Groundplan architectural office designed and renovated a pediatric clinic in the city of Farsala.
The interior design focused on the light and playful ambience and the realization of small-scale constructions in neutral colors.
The original small interventions were incorporated mostly on the masonry in each single space. The horizontal and vertical wooden elements -which sometimes take the form of a highway on wall and other times figure as a perforated space divider with vertical planting – enhances children’s imagination and creates a playful ambience that tends to be closer to a children’s playground than to a clinic.
The main emphasis was given on a child-centered design. During the design process, the importance was thus given to the synthesis on the simplicity and the inventiveness of the constructions. For safety reasons, all interventions on the masonry and the floor have small or no protrusions as befits a space where children of all ages move.
The all around design synthesis of the pediatric clinic contributes decisively to the creation of a unique professional space where the serious style of the clinic harmonizes perfectly with the needs of the child audience to which it is addressed.
